World Cricket Legends Set to Return to Ground for Noble Cause This Time

MUMBAI: Legends of world cricket will return again into the ground. However this time for noble causes.

As a part of the Road Safety Awareness campaign former cricketers from five nations will play a regular World Series event which would be held every year in India. The series was launched today in a gala function held in a five-star hotel in Mumbai which was attended by legends of World Cricket like Sunil Manohar Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and several others.

The series will kick off on February 4 and five countries-India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, and Sri Lanka- will take part. The competition will be held on a league basis and later top two teams will cash into the final on February 16. First-year Mumbai and Pune will be the venues of the meet and later it would be spread across the country.

Little Master Sunil Gavaskar will be the Commissioner of the meet while master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar named as the Brand Ambassador.

Ravi Gaikwad, RTO, Chief of Thane (Konkan Range) who is one of the brains behind this Road safety awareness series, in a brief speech said, “One thing that runs very deeply in every Indian’s DNA is cricket. The reach of this game and the following of its stars are phenomenal and that is what we want to do spread the message of road safety across the country through this game.”

Brand Ambassador of the league Sachin Tendulkar said, “People in India love cricket and we are blessed to be playing the sports. I have been regularly talking about the importance of following traffic rules and driving safely and the platform of Road Safety World Series feels like a full circle. I am really happy to be a part of this league which not only gives the stalwarts of the cricket world a chance to come back but also an opportunity for all of us to give something back to the society through this beautiful game.”

Master Blaster will lead India in the series.
