New Delhi: Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra was ruled out of Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 on Monday due to injury.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Indian Olympic Association (IOC) informed that same wished Neeraj a speedy recovery.

''Our Olympic Champ @Neeraj_chopra1 will not be defending his title at @birminghamcg22 due to concerns regarding his fitness. We wish him a speedy recovery & are supporting him in these challenging times,'' IOC Tweeted.

Chopra recently grabbed a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships and was India's top gold medal contender.

Interestingly, his fans were expecting to repeat the 2018 feat that he achieved in Gold Coast Common Wealth Games he was ruled out.

An MRI scan was conducted after the World Athletics event, wherein a groin injury was detected. In such a situation, Neeraj has been advised to rest for about a month.

Neeraj's event was scheduled to be held on August 5, however, due to injury India's hopes in this event shifted to DP Manu and Rohit Yadav as now both of them will represent India in the javelin throw.
