National Junior National Athletics begins in Guwahati today at SAI Sports Complex

GUWAHATI: The 37th National Junior Athletics Championship will kick off in Guwahati on Friday. The tournament will be held at the SAI Sports Complex.

The Secretary General of the Athletics Federation of India Ravinder Chaudhry addressing a media gathering said that a record 2113 athletes from 28 States will participate in the championship. There will be altogether 539 events. Chaudhry added: The competition will be held in four different age categories which included U-14, 16, 18 and 20.

The media briefing was also attended by the Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Nibedan Das Patowary and the secretary of the Assam Athletics Association Ashoke Bharali along with former international athelet Tayabun Nisha. Patowary informed the media that the inaugural ceremony will be held at the SAI Sports Complex at 3PM tomorrow and it will be attended by Nandita Garlosa, the Minister for Power, Cooperation, Mines, Minerals, etc.
