GUWAHATI: Assam suffered a humiliating 22 runs defeat by the hand of Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Cricket at Chandigarh on Sunday.

Assam needed just 135 runs to win the game, but they were bowled out 112 in 22.1 overs.

Invited to bat first, Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out 134 runs in 35.4 overs. Captain Neelam Obi (21), Licha Jhon (24) and Aparmeya Jaiswal (24) were the major contributors for Arunachal Pradesh with bat. Mukhtar Hussain, Mayukh Hazarika and Avinov Choudhury bowled well in the match and bagged three wickets each.

In the run chase Assam started badly losing the first wicket in the form of Denish Das without adding a single run on the board. However Rishav Das and Bishal Roy nicely repaired the damage adding 71 runs on the second wicket. Once Rishav got out on this score Arunachal came back strongly in the game and picked up the remaining eight wickets giving away just 41 runs.

Right handed batter Bishal Roy was the lone batter in the innings who tried to give some resistance to the opponent bowlers. Roy came to bat at number three position and faced 46 balls to score 59 with the help of 7 boundaries and three sixes. Rishav (13) and Mukhtar Hussain (14) were the other two batters who scored double digit runs for Assam in the innings. Yab Niya (6-48) and Divyanshu Yadav (4-22) shared ten wickets among them.
