Assam Sign Off Ranji Campaign With Another Defeat

Guwahati: Assam ended their Ranji Trophy campaign with another defeat and this time against Vidarbha at Lahli today. Vidarbha won the game by five wickets. It was the third consecutive defeat for Assam in the meet.

Vidarbha today required only 31 runs to win the game and there were five wickets in their hand. They easily reached the target this morning without losing a wicket. Two not out batsmen Sarvate and Wankhade nicely negotiated the bowlers and took Vidarbha to home who started the day's proceeding from overnight score 125-5. Sarvate remained not out on 22 and Wankhede contributed unbeaten 18 on the board.

Meanwhile at the Nehru Stadium in the city Jharkhand beat Tamil Nadu by 2 wickets. Saurabh Tiwary (93) played a captain's knock in the second innings and guided his team to victory. With this victory Jharkhand finished at top in group 'H' with 12 points and they were qualified for the pre quarter-final where the side will face Nagaland. Nagaland bagged top spot in plate group with 19 points.

At the ACA Stadium, Barsapara the match between Delhi and Chhattisgarh ended as a draw. Delhi reached 396-2 in their second innings when the game ended today. Opener Yash Dhull (200) scored an unbeaten double century and his opening partner Dhruv Shorey contributed exactly 100 on the board.
