AHMEDABAD: The fourth and final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy began today in the Narendra Modi stadium in the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first.

The Australian team started rather slow and managed to score only 75 runs at the loss of 2 wickets by lunch of the opening day. The post-lunch session however saw the Australian team in a different form.

Usman Khawaja’s unbeaten 104 was the highlight of the first day’s game. Cameroon Green also remained unbeaten at 49 runs at the end of play.

Mohammed Shami claimed the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Peter Handscomb but also gave away 65 runs in his 17 overs. Ravichandran Aswin and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket each from their 25 and 20-over spells respectively.

Australia has already qualified for the finals of the ICC World Test Championship when they beat the Indian team in the 3rd test of this series. India needs to win the last match to ensure their berth in the upcoming contest. Even a draw in this match will not be enough for the cricketing nation to enter the arena. With the bowling contingent not being able to make any visible damage to the Australian lineup, it remains to see if they can manage to win the match.
