GUWAHATI, Aug 20: The Special General Body Meeting of the Assam Cricket Association was held today at the newly constructed Tezpur Convention Centre, Tezpur today. The meeting was presided over by its president Romen Dutta and it was attended by several other ACA officials including secretary Devajit Saikia along with representatives from each of the 42 affiliated units.

During the meeting, it was decided to constitute an organising committee under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, for the ensuing T20I match between India and South Africa scheduled to be held in Guwahati on October 2.

Several important decisions relating to the game of Cricket were also taken including appointment of coaches and other technical staff of the Assam team for the forthcoming senior and other age-group tournaments of the BCCI.

The meeting also mourned the untimely demise of Abdul Matin, former secretary of the Assam Cricket Association, and Amitabh Choudhary, former joint secretary of BCCI. It was further decided that a family pension amounting to Rs. 20000 would be given to the widow of Abdul Matin, who was a noted cricket administrator of Assam.

Another crucial decision that was taken during the meeting was regarding certain issues about the Apex Council of Assam Cricket Association and its term. Application would be moved either Supreme Court or the Gauhati High Court with respect to certain constitutional issues. It was also decided that a separate legal team would be constituted by Assam Cricket Association for this purpose.

Later ACA officials, accompanied by Deba Kumar Mishra, DC, Sonitpur, visited a plot of land for inspection at Teleria, Tezpur, where an exclusive cricket complex would be built under the ongoing infrastructure development programme of the Assam Cricket Association.

Meanwhile, the Veteran Cricket Association of Assam today welcomed the decision of the Assam Cricket Association to provide a family pension to the widow of Abdul Matin. The secretary of the Association Nasir Gul Khan said, "It's a good decision and for this we give thanks to the ACA."
