AIZAWL: The first season of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs Naupung League has started in Mizoram and will witness the participation of a huge number of young boys and girls across the state.

The Naupang League is a football competition to celebrate and encourage participation in the fame. It has been organised by the Mizoram Football Association and the Reliance Foundation. And it aims to inculcate the habit of football at the very grassroots levels of the country. Boys and girls as young as 5 years of age are taking part in this league to learn and enjoy the most popular sport in the world.

The opening weekend saw huge participation in both Aizawl and Champai regions as the aspiring players showcased their talents in the field. Apart from that, it will be organised in Lunglei and Kolasib regions as well. The Mizoram Football Association and District Football Associations are hosting the competition in Lunglei and Kolasib while those at Aizawl and Champai will be managed by the RFYC.

The organisers mentioned that the categories start at Under 5 and continue till Under 13. The players will play a minimum of 30 games. And with the participation of over 2000 students, this tournament will go on till June next year. They also informed that all four leagues will continue parallelly till the completion of next year.

The coach of the local Ramhlun Veng U-13 team mentioned that the children are practising very hard for the tournament. He mentioned that his team starts their 3-hour workout at 6 AM so that they can train as well as continue with their regular studies. He also expressed happiness regarding the tournament and mentioned the immense future prospects of the event. He also thanked the organisers for setting up this event in their state.
