An Open Letter to Serena Williams

Dear Serena,

Do I have to say that you are GOAT (Greatest of all time)? I don't think that's required anymore. After all, everyone knows it. But I genuinely want to express that you are an inspiration to millions and millions of girls who dream of achieving GREATNESS.

As the great Billie Jean King once said, "Pressure is a privilege. Champions take chances." Who else in the tennis fraternity has proved it better than you have.

I know I may be emotional today. But pardon me, it's your farewell and I can't help it. So are the girls who have grown up looking at you for inspiration. Even Ajla Tomljanovic, who defeated you at the 2022 US Open, always admired you and took inspiration from your life.

Growing under the shadows of Venus must have been difficult, but you have proved to the world that apprehensions can be overshadowed with perseverance, grit, and determination.

Every time the critics have tried to break you down, you proved them wrong. Be it the 2007 Australian Open when you entered as an unseeded player, or be it the 2012 Wimbledon when you were recovering from leg injury. On every occasion, you raised your bar and shouted to the world, "I am the GREATEST." Although it is the famous line of the great Mohammad Ali, but he must be proud to share it with a fighter like you.

Winners leave their relationship behind when they reach the pinnacle. But you have shown that family matters the most. The way you talk about your parents and Venus Williams sends a message to the world that family comes first.

"I really think a champion is defined not by their wins but by how they can recover when they fall." This line of yours sums up everything for fans like us.

So my dear Serena Williams, I, on behalf of all the girls and women, thank you for all you have done. You have and will always inspire the generations to come. Your attitude, your passion, your resilience, your style will always remain with us like posters in our memory.
