

ITANAGAR: Minister Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung while ensuring to work on the modalities to declare the State Level Kalikho Pul Table Tennis tournament as a state calendar event has also informed that the funds for other state events like Arunachal Idol, Miss Arunachal, and Arunachal Got Talent, etc have been enhanced from existing Rs. 40 lakhs to Rs. 80 lakhs.
Natung, who kicked off the 3rd state-level Kalikho Pul Table Tennis tournament organized by the Table Tennis Arunachal (TTA) at Dera Natung Government Auditorium hallnear here on Wednesday, said that the state government will be working on one of the appeal of the TTA for declaring the event as a calendar event.
He said that youths of the state have potential in sports, and the state government has always been supporting the games & sports in the state. He said, moreover, the sports department will soon call on a meeting to discuss the appeal of the TTA for declaring the event as a calendar event.
More than 100 players from 10 districts and various other sports institutions are participating in the Table Tennis (TT) tournament.
“Late Kalikho Pul was public Chief Minister and we all remember him on this day. Likewise, the present CM Pema Khandu is also ensuring to provide better platforms for the sports enthusiast to excel in life and thereby bring glory for the state,” he said.
The spouse of former CM late Kalikho Pul and MLA Dasanglu Pul said that the need of the hour is to divert the minds of the youths from any kind of drug abuse. And, the best way to do so is to engage them in sports activities.
