12th rhino killed by poachers in Kaziranga

GAON, June 29: A gang of poachers killed a rhino near Kathal Chang forest camp under Burhapahar forest range in Kaziranga tiol Park (KNP) on Sunday night around 8.30 pm and maged to flee with the horn. According to sources, the forest guards and other officials heard gunshots. When the guards rushed to the spot, the poachers started firing at them which led to an exchange of fire.  Later, the guards and other officials recovered the hornless carcass of a rhino from the area. This is the 12th rhino to be killed in the park this year. The forest guards along with police and paramilitary forces have started a search operation to trace the gang.
