GUWAHATI, July 19: As many as 16 hospitals in the State are running without a single doctor and nurse. This was stated by Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the Assembly today. Replying to a question raised by MLA Kamalakshya De Purakayashtha in the Assembly, Sarma informed that there are 50 hospitals in the State without doctors while 56 hospitals have no nurses at all. The minister, however, assured the House that APSC has issued advertisement to fill up 786 posts of doctors in the State. "Doctors will be appointed in these hospitals after APSC completes the selection process," Sarma added.
