Guwahati, April 4: At least two persons were killed and over twenty others wounded in a powerful grede attack at Dudhnoi in Goalpara on Monday evening.

Sources said two motorcyclists lobbed the grede near a BJP election office at Dudhnoi Chariali at around 7.30 pm. The area is barely few metres from Dudhnoi police station. The injured persons were rushed to the Dudhnoi CHC-cum-FRU.

One person - Bapan Saha (35) - succumbed to his injuries. Goalpara SP Nitul Gogoi said another person was also killed in the explosion. His identity was not yet known.

The condition of at least five others are said to be critical, with doctors stating that the toll might go up. A police sub inspector - Rajen Talukdar - was also seriously injured in the blast. No outfit has claimed responsibility, but police suspect it to be a handiwork of ULFA(I).
