24X7 power supply to be launched from Guwahati

Guwahati, Jan 2: Readying to provide uninterrupted power supply to its consumers, the Power department has divided the State into seven zones and assessed their requirements. “We will launch the project from Guwahati. The additiol power will be purchased from the all-India bank in which power surplus states store their extra power,” Power minister Rakibul Hussain said today. Once the project is launched, the consumers would get uninterrupted power, except in case of any technical sg, he said. The State’s peak power requirement during summer is 1,450 MW, while its own generation is just around 350 MW. Meanwhile, the State government has appointed Subhash Chandra Das, who retired as an Additiol Chief Secretary on January 31, as a member of the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission.
