5 arrested at Srirampur check gate while collecting illegal taxes

TANGLA, May 29: A team of Gossaigaon police arrested five persons, including a policeman and two home guards, red-handed while collecting uuthorized taxes at Srirampur inter-state check gate on Sunday. According to Gossaigaon SDPO Bhawar Lal, the police conducted an operation in the check gate on Sunday morning and caught a policeman and two home guards and two civilians while they were collecting illegal taxes from trucks. They were identified as Dilip Kumar Roy (policeman), Ranendra Roy and Ranjit Barman (home guards), Dipankar Roy and Pijush Talukdar. Around Rs 3,780, seven mobile handsets, two motor bikes and a register book were also seized from them.
