5,313 officials to be deployed in 51 counting centers in Assam

Guwahati, May 16: The Election Commission of India will depute 126 observers to oversee the counting process in Assam slated for May 19. In all, 5,313 counting officials will be deployed in 51 counting centers. At each of the 1,771 counting tables, one micro-observer will be deployed, an official release said today. "All necessary instructions have already been given to the District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police for ensuring smooth counting process. There are 1064 candidates in fray for elections to the 126-member assembly. Fifty media centers have also been set up. A three-tier security arrangement has been made at each counting center. The innermost tier will be manned by the Central Armed Police Force. No victory procession will be allowed without prior permission of the concerned District Magistrate.
