AADSU blows whistle on Deuri Council

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, May 9: The All Assam Deuri Students Union (AADSU) has blown the whistle on an alleged scam of several crores of rupees in the Deuri Autonomous Council.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Bhuban Deuri, general secretary, ADSU, central committee, said that Rs 12,364 crore was received by the Deuri Autonomous Council in the years 2005 to 2014, but there are no proper records where the money was spent.

“We tried to dig out the actual information how this fund was spent through RTI applications, but the department concerned failed to give any information,” Deuri said, adding, “We are also not satisfied with the role played by the information commissioner in this regard.”

The AADSU further alleged that Council CEMs Amit Prabha Deuri, Pitambar Deuri and Bhairav Deuri and principal secretaries to the Council Haliram Pegu, Prafulla Deuri and Ajit Das were involved in the fund misappropriation.

The AADSU has demanded an enquiry into the fund anomaly to bring the corrupt persons to book.
