Guwahati, April 7: The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements to secure 28 strong-rooms set up to keep the EVMs used during the first phase of the Assam assembly elections. The strong-rooms will be under CCTV surveillance round-the-clock. Only paramilitary personnel have been deployed to guard the strong rooms, while personnel from other agencies have been deployed for area domition in the vicinity, sources in the State's election department said. The EC has identified places to set up 24 strong-rooms for the second phase of polls. Once the EVMs are shifted to the strong-rooms, they will be opened only on the morning of May 19 - the day of counting, the sources added.
