GUWAHATI, Feb 14: BJP’s tiol spokesperson Siddhartha Bhattacharyya has read between the lines of the statement made by the AIUDF yesterday and said that the party being led by Badruddin Ajmal has admitted that it has an understanding of seat-sharing with the Congress.

Bhattacharyya told media today: “The AIUDF making it clear that it is going to field candidates in 60 seats in the Assembly election in the State and it has nothing to say if the Congress comes out winner in the remaining 66 seats amply means that the two parties have a seat-sharing even as they maintain that they are bêtes noire. The understanding between the Congress and the AIUDF isn’t new. They had ties during the second term of the UPA at the Centre. That they have an understanding between them is known to the people of Assam, and it needs no fresh explation.”

On Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi making public a white paper on funds received by Dispur during the UPA government vis-à-vis the NDA government at the Centre now, Bhattacharyya said: “The  paper published by the Chief Minister yesterday can’t be called a white paper. It’s just a complaint. The BJP just wanted Dispur to show how much money it received from the Centre and how the amount was spent. I have information that Dispur is still to submit the utilization certificates of thousands of crores of rupees.”
