GUWAHATI, Feb 20: The State Minority Morcha of the BJP has caught AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal on the wrong foot, for what it said, making a commul statement at an election rally in Dhubri district yesterday.
Talking to newsmen at BJP’s election office at Ulubari in the city today, Morcha president Mominul Aowal said: “Ajmal has appealed to the Muslim community of the State to vote for the AIUDF in 60 LACs and vote for the Congress in the rest 66 LACs. This is a commul statement that has also brought it to the fore that the Congress and the AIUDF have reached an electoral understanding underneath. In fact, Ajmal is an agent of the Congress in an AIUDF mask. He is speaking the language of the Congress before the electorate. Ajmal has been in the avatar of a patron for fundamentalism. The Congress has all along been beguiling the minority people of the State for the past 55 years only to stab them in the back.”
Mominul said: “Since its inception in 2005, Ajmal has been using the AIUDF as his business and the minority voters of the State as his political raw materials for the business. He has also rehabilitated his family members through this political business. The Congress and the AIUDF have been out to make a social topsy-turvy set in motion in the State. However, the two parties are a worried lot now with the rush of the minority people towards the BJP.”
Reacting to the reported Rs 110-crore scam in the holding of the South Asian Games in Guwahati and Shillong, Mominul squarely demanded an inquiry into the allegation.
