AJYCP stages protest demonstration

GUWAHATI, Dec 31: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) central committee members staged a protest demonstration in front of the office of the Kamrup (M) DC today in support of their demands which include-introduction of Inner Line Permit and dual citizenship for the people of Assam.

AJYCP president Biraj Kumar Talukdar said, “Recently, the Central government is plotting to grant citizenship to the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in the guise of refugee minorities, which we strongly oppose. This step of the Central government will bring problem for the indigenous Assamese people and they will become minority in their own land. We, therefore, demand the government to cancel the decision of granting citizenships to the immigrants of Bangladesh.”

He further said, “We appeal the Centre to introduce Inner Line Permit system and dual citizenship system in the State as soon as possible. Otherwise, we will take stern step in this regard. We have also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Kamrup (M) DC in support of our demands.”
