Akademi awards for Assam artistes

Guwahati, April 24: Former secretary of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra and wife of Axom Xahitya Xabha president Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora, Sharodi Saikia is among those conferred with the Sangeet tak Akademi awards for the year 2015.

Saikia was conferred the award in the Sattriya dance category.

The General Council of the Sangeet tak Akademi, the tiol Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, New Delhi selected 43 artistes from the fields of music, dance, theatre and puppetry and overall contribution/scholarship in performing arts for the Sangeet tak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) for the year 2015.

Among the recipients of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (dance) are P Bilash Singh for Manipuri Dance, Seujpriya Borthakur for Sattriya Dance and Shilpika Bordoloi for contemporary/experimental dance. Thirty-two artistes of India who have made a mark as young talents in their respective fields of performing arts have been conferred the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2015 which carries a purse money of Rs 25,000.
