BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, March 8: Alleging bias on part of the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro), the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will soon approach the Election Commission of India. APCC president Anjan Dutta said this on Tuesday. It may be mentioned that the APCC has alleged that while removing government posters, the Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner acted partially and removed some party posters which had due permission of the appropriate authority. “We had permission for most of them. They were put through agencies and some didn’t have permission, but they removed even those which had permission. Some officials are working on behalf of the BJP. There can be no justification of this,” Dutta said. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, “If someone is playing a biased role, it is wrong.”

The APCC is also going to move the Election Commission seeking change of date for Rajya Sabha polling in the State. The poll for two RS seats is scheduled on March 21 which coincides with the last date of filing nomition for the second phase of Assembly election.
