Along with education, imbibe reading culture, says Sonowal

DIMORIA, August 2: Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs (Independent charge) Sarbanda Sonowal today appealed to students to imbibe the culture of reading books of different languages and take part in sports activities apart from their classroom activities so as to ensure their all-round development -- development of body, mind and soul.

He was speaking minutes before the open session of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Sopur College at Sopur. The celebration began with the flag hoisting after which Sonowal iugurated a UGC-sponsored mini indoor stadium of the college.

Sonowal said: “Education is the backbone of all. Along with education, physical activities like games and sports are too important to be without. Apart from physical abilities, such activities help students inculcate unity, leadership quality etc., among them. The students shouldn’t confine themselves in bookish knowledge. They should reads books of different languages of the world.”

Meanwhile, Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) president Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bora attended the open session that began after a cultural procession.

A a mini theatre hall and a computer laboratory will be opened tomorrow. A semir and  the open session will be held on that day. The open session will be attended by many dignitaries.
