ANLA C-in-C bbed in Guwahati

Guwahati, June 23:  Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch sleuths conducted a search operation today at Guwahati railway station, Panbazar and adjoining areas of Paltanbazar in the city, bbing seven ANLA (Achick tiol Liberation Army) militants. Crime Branch sources revealed that one of the arrested militants is Suber Sangma, self-styled C-in-C of the outfit. Two physical and drill instructors George Sangma and Buttu Sangma and four cadres have been bbed along with Suber Sangma. Three members of this group had come to Guwahati from Hojai by galand Express and four others came from Goalpara by car. An extremist organization based in Garo hills along the Bangladesh border as well as bordering districts in Assam, the ANLA is led by self-styled Chairman Hersing D'shira. Its weapons strength is estimated to be 50-60 AK, M-40 and M-16 series assault rifles as well as a number of small arms like 9 mm pistols and .32 revolvers besides around 15 gredes, as revealed by Suber Sangma during interrogation.
