Applicant To Be Given Reasons For Rejection In NRC

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI: In what can be called as a fair and impartial treatment to all, the office of the State NRC Coordinator is going to give ‘reasons for rejections’ to each and every NRC applicant spelling out as to why he/she is ineligible for inclusion in the final National Register of Citizens. The NRC authority is going to make it known as to how and when ‘reasons for rejections’ will be provided.

Every applicant ineligible for inclusion in the final National Register of Citizens has to appeal before the Foreigners Tribunals (FTs) with ‘reasons for rejections’. After hearings his/her plea, an FT will give its final say stating if the appellant is an Indian or a foreigner. If the FT declares an appellant as an Indian, he/she will be eligible for inclusion in the NRC.
