Guwahati, July 13: The Assam Public Works has also filed an additiol affidavit at the Supreme Court seeking "direct inclusion" of mes of indigenous people in NRC on the basis of area-specific surmes.

The APW also stated that people who came to Assam before March 24, 1971 should be directly included in the NRC and that only those who came after that date should apply.

"The tiol Register of Indian Citizens for Assam needs to be compiled as per Rule 4 of the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of tiol Identity Cards ) Rules 2003, through house-to-house enumeration as applicable to the rest of India," the APW stated in its affidavit, adding that the issue of identification and regularization of the immigrant Bangladeshis with a cut-off date of 1971 is a separate issue.

Meanwhile, a team of All Assam Students Union today reached New Delhi and is expected to file a separate affidavit at the apex court tomorrow.
