STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The State Education Department has directed LP and ME Schools of the State that have the word ‘Muktab’ as a prefix in their names to drop the word forthwith. Talking to the media here on Saturday, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Since Muktab teachings are no longer imparted in the LP and ME schools in the State now, the word ‘Muktab’ should be dropped from the names of schools as the word gives a religious tag to the institutions using it.” The directive has been issued to 63 LP and ME schools.
