Assam government declares public holidays for Lok Sabha poll

GUWAHATI: Under the NI Act the Assam government has declared public holidays for the three-phase Lok Sabha poll in their respective districts. While April 11 will be a holiday for the first phase of the poll in Biswanath, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Sonitpur and Tinsukia districts on account of the first phase of the general elections; April 18 will be a holiday for the second phase of the poll in Cachar, Darrang, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi, Hojai, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Udalguri and West Karbi Anglong districts. April 23 will be declared a holiday for the third phase of the poll in Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Kokrajhar, Nalbari and South Salmara districts.
