GUWAHATI: Sensing the prevailing resentment among public, Assam Government has decided to take effective steps to redress their grievances and complaints within a fixed time frame.
Towards this end, the State government will soon launch a portal connecting the Chief Minister’s Office, Ministers’ Offices and offices of Deputy Commissioners. Once the public lodge their complaints, these will be uploaded in the portal and the departments concerned will be directed to redress such grievances or complaints. Deputy Commissioners will also put in a place an effective mechanism within their office premises to resolve public complaints within the stipulated deadlines.
A sense of resentment and anger is currently prevailing among the public as majority of their grievances go unheard at the DC offices, ministers’ office and even at the Chief Minister’s Office. Senior citizens are seen running from pillar to post at different government department seeking redressal of their grievances.
The Pension and Public Grievances department will work as the nodal agency to execute the State Government’s new initiatives. The department has been asked to ensure zero per cent hassle for the government employees to receive their pension after retirement from their service. The government will also launch an online system where employees can start submitting various documents a year ahead of their retirement for approval of pension. Many government employees have not yet received their pension even four to five years after their retirement. The proposed online submission of documents will ensure that the employees will get their pensions from the very dates of their retirement.
On other hand, the Chief Minister’s Office has directed the Pension and Public Grievances department to resolve all pension cases pending for several years within March 31, 2020.
