Assam no dustbin for Bangladeshis: AASU

GUWAHATI, February 20: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has said that Assam is not the dust bin of Bangladeshis. In a statement issued to the press today, AASU adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya said: "Assam isn't the dustbin of Bangladeshis. Bangladeshis who entered Assam after March 25, 1971 can’t stay in the state." Meanwhile, the students’ body today staged strike all over the state demanding 100 per cent jobs the candidates of Assam and other States in the region in all Central and semi-central departments having offices in the Northeast, including the NF Railway.

Meanwhile, a number of organizations today burnt the effigy of Prime Minister rendra Modi in protest against the reported move to give Indian citizens to Bangladeshis living Bangladesh’s enclaves lying in this side of the border fence.
