Atul Bora files nomition, seeks vote for change

Guwahati, March 17: Altogether 35 nomitions were filed on Thursday for the first phase of assembly elections.

Among the bigwigs who filed their nomitions was AGP president Atul Bora who is contesting from Bokakhat.

A large gathering of supporters, besides senior BJP leaders, including Sarbanda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma were present while Bora filed his nomition paper before the returning officer.

"People will vote for change this time. We (AGP and BJP) have come together to fight against the Congress' misrule," Bora told his supporters later.

He said protection of Kaziranga and development of Bokakhat would be his thrust areas if he is elected from the constituency.

BJP president Sarbanda Sonowal also addressed the rally.

Tomorrow is the last date for filing of nomitions for the first phase of elections.

Majority of the candidates, including stalwarts like Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his rival Kamakhya Prasad Tasa will file their nomition papers tomorrow.

The scrutiny of nomition papers will be conducted on March 19.
