Bangladesh U-19 spinner reported for suspect bowling action

Dhaka, Jan 29: Bangladesh youth teamâ’s off-spinner Sanjit Saha has been reported for suspected bowling action against South Africa in the opening match of the Under-19 cricket World Cup. With the 43-run victory over the reigning champions on Thursday still fresh in their mind, the news came as a bolt from the blue for Bangladesh colts. The umpires of the match formally lodged the complaint after the game ended at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

The 18-year-old went wicketless giving away 30 runs in 8 overs against the Proteas. He will undergo a test within the next two weeks at an Intertiol Cricket Council (ICC)-approved laboratory. However, he will be able to keep bowling until the result is out, as per the rules.

Bangladesh will take on Scotland in the second Group A match in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday. ians
