Barkataki forms committee to probe anomalies

Guwahati, Aug 18: Deeply embarrassed by allegations of widespread anomalies in the fil list of permanent elementary school teachers published by the Elementary Education department, State Education Minister Sarat Barkataki today constituted a four-member committee to go into the matter. Headed by Elementary Education department Commissioner-Secretary Pritam Saikia, the committee has been directed to submit its report within seven days. In a press release, Barkataky stated that the State government is committed to make the Education department clean and corruption-free.

Meanwhile TET-passed primary teachers continued their protests at the Directorate of Elementary Education at Kahilipara today. Published on August 14 last, the list of successful candidates has been alleged to be full of anomalies. The mes of many TET-passed teachers with D El. Ed certificates and working on contract basis do not figure in this list. There has been no reservation in the list for OBC and MOBC candidates. The credentials of the topper in the ST(P) list, particularly her ages shown during HS and degree exams, are said to be suspect. A section of candidates have also complained that the reservation policy has not been followed as per guidelines.
