BCPL GM commits suicide

Guwahati, June 27: The general mager of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) committed suicide at his office quarter at the project's township at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh district today, in an incident that has sent shock waves at the under-construction project site. Fifty-three-year old Vimal Kumar, hailing from Mathura, had joined the project last year. "He did not come to office today. Senior officers and employees went looking for him at his office quarter. The door was locked. The office staff broke open the lock and found Kumar lying in a pool of blood at his room," said a police official inquiring the incident.

He apparently slit his wrists. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Dibrugarh where he succumbed.

"He tried to write something on the floor and walls with his blood. But it is not very clear. We are trying to decipher it," the official said, adding that there were words like "rampant corruption" written in the wall.
