Bhutan extends relief packages to border villagers in India during nationwide lockdown

KOKRAJHAR: The Bhutan-India Friendship Association (BIFA - Gelephu Chapter) of Bhutan has extended generous help to border villagers on the Indian side who are suffering due to the nationwide lockdown. The BIFA distributed relief packages to 610 families in the Datgari and Hatisar areas of India through the VCDCs (Village Council Development Committees).

Robin Sunar and Dhiraj Basnet of BIFA thanked Tashi Delek of Bhutan for providing the COVID-19 relief packages for the 610 families during the lockdown. The relief packages were distributed under the supervision of BIFA to those who have been badly affected by the lockdown. Sunar and Basnet added that this gesture of friendship would be written in history with golden letters.

Meanwhile, the border villagers of Datgari and Hatisar, including VCDC chairmen, expressed their gratitude to the Bhutanese counterpart and the BIFA for extending help to poor villagers in the border areas. Photo on
