Bir Biranga'- The longest poem released

GUWAHATI, Nov 5: It consists of 2662 lines 10670 words and has already made it to India Book of Records, World Records India, Indian Achiever Book of Records, Limca Book of Records. If you are still wondering what it is, it is a poem on various revolutiories and freedom fighters.

A manuscript of the poem was exhibited in the city during a programme titled ‘Sammany Divas and Mahila Shilpi Samaruh’ organised by Asom Xahitya Xabha in association with the Kamrup Mahagar Zila Xahitya Xabha, Biswarat Dr Bhupen Hazarika Sakha Xahitya Xabha and Gauhati University on the occasion of the 4th death anniversary of music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika on Thursday.

Interacting with the media, Pankaj Mahato, the poet said that his next target is to get into the Guinness Book of World Records and he is planning to add another 150 lines to the poem to make the manuscript 110 feet and 7 inches long. The poem will be translated into Bengali, Oriya, Hindi and other language in the future.

The freedom fighters who have been featured in the poem includes Kaklata Baruah, Bishnu Rabha, Maniram Dewan, Kushal Konwar, Mahatma Gandhi, Sarojini idu etc.

It may be mentioned that Mahato,  who hails from Dhupdhara in Goalpara district is a jourlist by profession and a member of Assam Press Correspondents’ Union.
