BJP-AGP heavyweights file nomitions

Guwahati, March 21: A number of heavyweights of the BJP-led alliance today filed their nomition papers.

Altogether 15 candidates filed their nomition papers from the four constituencies in Guwahati.

After filing his nomition papers, AGP MLA from Bongaigaon Phani Bhusan Choudhury said, "Since 1985, I have received the love of the people of Bongaigaon. I hope to get it again this time."

AGP MLA from Koliabor Keshab Mahanta also filed his nomition papers and was confident that the BJP-led alliance will oust the Congress from the State in the coming assembly elections. "Even as an MLA of the Opposition, I tried to work for development," he said. Thousands of     supporters accompanied BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma to the Kamrup metro deputy commissioner's office where he filed his nomition papers. "I am proud to file nomition from the BJP. History will be scripted in the coming assembly elections. The BJP is battle ready," he said.

Former State BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharyya also filed his nomition papers from Guwahati East. He predicted that his party will score a record victory in the constituency.

Others who filed their nomition papers today included AGP's Ramendra rayan Kalita (Guwahati West), BJP's Chandra Mohan Patowary (Dharmapur), BJP's Gauranga Prasad Das (Goalpara East), LDP's Pradyut Bora (Guwahati East), BJP's Atul Bora (Dispur) and BJP's Angoorlata (Batadrava).
