GUWAHATI, Jan 7: The State BJP has hit out at Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi over the Assam Pradesh Congress ad campaign carrying Gogoi's slogan of development. In a press communiqué, the BJP also took a dig on AIUDF supremo Badaruddin Ajmal and the chief minister alleging a 'secret understanding'.

“Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s sloganeering on development is a big lie. The people have witnessed 14 years of misrule. Gogoi is now working to destroy Assam permanently,” said State BJP spokesperson Jiten Sarma.

He further alleged, “Badaruddin Ajmal is working on an agenda to merge Assam into Bangladesh and Gogoi is ready to forge an alliance with him. Tarun Gogoi can sacrifice Assam for his persol interest.”

“Suspected tiols are encroaching each and every corner of the State, in Mayong and Pabitara there are number of villages that came into being within a night. The chief minister failed to protect the State. Over the last 14 years he even failed to protect the pride of Assam- the one horned rhinos. How can he protect the people of the State?” Sarma.

He further slammed the chief minister over the announcements made on New Year and said, “The chief minister announced 23 new schemes on January 1. But, the fince secretary had earlier said that there was no fund in the State exchequer. From where did the State got Rs 7000 crore to announce new schemes.”

He also urged the chief minister to declare the statuses of all 63 schemes announced in the last 14 years.

On the other hand, the State BJP on Thursday gave a rousing welcome to the accused of Rajiv Bhawan incident at the State BJP HQ in Henegerabari. The leaders including State BJP general secretary Vijay Gupta and spokesperson Rupam Goswami, who were in jail were welcomed by State BJP president Sarbanda Sonowal.
