BJP leader lobbying for ACA post

OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, July 4: The BJP had been always vocal in the State against politicizing of sports bodies. Many a time, it slammed the ruling congress party for politicizing the various sports bodies such as Assam Cricket Association by nomiting its members to the association. But this time, the mud is on BJP.

A prominent youth leader of the party, who is also a State secretary, has been allegedly lobbying in New Delhi for a post in the Assam Cricket Association. The said leader also met BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur in New Delhi recently.

This issue, of a party leader meeting a BCCI secretary individually, has now sparked sharp reaction in the inner circle of BJP’s Assam unit. Many have raised concern about the issue as it would make the party fall on the same lines with that of its main rival, the Congress.

Meanwhile, expressing their concern some senior leaders of the party has urged the tiol leadership to keep a close eye on such issues as back home it will have a negative impact on the party. It needs to be mentioned here that, the BJP has earlier strongly criticized the congress for appointing their members to various sports bodies, through election and selection.
