Bodo rebel gunned down

GUWAHATI, April 20: Security forces gunned down a NDFB (S) militant operating in Sonitpur district. The Charduar-based Assam Rifles unit, based on information received from reliable sources regarding presence of some armed terrorists, laid a mobile check post along with police at Bogijuli last night. Two armed individuals were spotted approaching the check post on a bike who, when challenged, fired at the security forces. The security forces retaliated and in the ensuing gun fight one of the militants, identified as Engarlang, was killed while one maged to escape into the nearby thick vegetation. One 7.62 mm pistol, ammunition, two mobile phones, 8 SIM cards and a Pulsar bike were recovered from the encounter spot.
