Boys pip girls in HSLC

*    Pass percentage 62.2, Ripunjoy Kalita of Barpeta tops

* 36 students in top ten list, Dhemaji best district in performance

* Over 1.46 lakh examinees fail to clear HSLC hurdle

* Khandakar Shoaib from Dhubri secures AHM first rank

Guwahati, June 2: The Secondary Board of Education, Assam (SEBA) today declared the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Assam High Madrassa (AHM) examitions.

The pass percentage in the 2015 HSLC examition improved margilly to 62.2 from 61.42 last year.

Of the total 3,86,783 students who took the HSLC examition this year, 2,40,560 passed. The results in rural Assam were better than in urban areas.

This time, boys pipped girls by recording a better pass percentage of 66.54. The pass percentage for girls is 58.14.

The total first division holders are 51,046. Altogether 95,111 students cleared the examition with second division marks, while 94,406 students secured third division marks.

Thirty six students – 18 boys and an equal number of girls – found their mes in the top ten list.

Ripunjoy Kalita of Gilbert English Medium School in Barpeta topped the list of rank holders scoring 587 out of 600. There are six rank holders from Barpeta and four from Kamrup (Metro) district.

Distinction marks (510 and above) were achieved by 4,976 students, while 11,405 students got star marks (450-509).

The highest number of letter marks (80 and above) was received in the Social Science subject (20,686).

District–wise, Dhemaji, with 78.12 pass percentage, edged past other districts in performance, while the pass percentage in Chirang was lowest at 29.85.

The pass percentage in the Assam High Madrassa examitions is 69.6. Of the total 10,228 students who appeared for the examition, 7,119 passed. The performance of boys was better, recording a pass percentage of 73.23, while for girls it was 66.74.

Khandakar Shoaib of Kamandanga High Madrassa in Dhubri secured the first rank in the 2015 AHM results.
