Brindabani Bastra : British Council to support Assam's initiative

GUWAHATI, Aug 11: The British Council will support the initiative taken by the Assam Government for exhibition of the Brindabani Bastra in the State. Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Alan Gemmell, Director, British Council India, said he would take up the issue with the British Museum. Gemmell said he would talk with the authorities of the British Museum in this regard.  “However in the event of the State Government failing to achieve its purpose, we will explore other options to ensure that more people from the State can have a glimpse of this treasure,” said Gemmell emphasizing that it is important that the ethos associated with this unique drape be passed on to the young generation.
