Budget session ends, CM calls for 'Team Assam'

GUWAHATI, Aug 13: For the all-round development of Assam, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Saturday appealed to the ruling and opposition MLAs to extend their cooperation and said “We are one; we are team Assam”.

Sonowal appealed to the members to work together for the welfare of 3.2 crore people of the State. He further said any MLA can contact him on any issue of public interest.

On the last day of the Assembly budget session, four amendment bills were passed – the Assam Amusement and Betting Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the Assam Taxation (On Specified Land) (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the Assam Taxation (Liquidation of Arrear Dues) (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and the Assam Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

On the passing of the Assam Amusement and Betting Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the film fraternity of the State thanked the Chief Minister.

The House was adjourned sine die on Saturday. The budget session had begun on July 18 last.
