Can’t Shy Away From Accountability: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)

GUWAHATI: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora has said that his party cannot remain a political entity in the State by shying away from accountability it has towards the State and its people.

Sharing his views with the media at the year-end at AGP headquarters at Ambari in Guwahati on Sunday, Bora said: “With the experience of poll-centric success and failure, we firmly believe that regional politics is still relevant in a State like Assam. This is one of the powers in seeking solutions to problems concerning the region. This fact has been proved beyond doubt elsewhere in the country.”

Bora said: “The AGP has to make cautious strides amid a whole lot of challenges. There are regional problems. On the other, we’re committed to strengthening regionalism. We want to make it crystal clear – we can’t do politics simply by staying away from regional accountability. We’ve decided to expand regionalism by shouldering regional accountability. The essence of expansion of regionalism is strengthening the texture of the party right from grassroots level to all strata. We’re going to take a number of steps towards that end in the New Year.”
