CDPO, Accountant arrested with bribes

DIBRUGARH, March 30: Arrest of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and an Accountant of Integrated Child Development Scheme ((ICDS) in Dibrugarh District on charges of taking kickback has created considerable sensation among the populace.

Anti-corruption sleuths in association with local police and district administration raided the office of ICDS at Teloi Gaon under Khowang police station in Dibrugarh district on Monday, arresting CDPO Lee Sonowal and recovering Rs 32,600 from her possession and Rs 50,000 from Accountant Dilip Dutta.

CDPO Sonowal in connivance with her accountant Dutta were allegedly taking huge amounts as bribe against allotting funds in various projects under ICDS.

One LDA of District Elementary Education Office was arrested recently for similar crime and a huge kickback amount was recovered from his office drawer, while his luxurious car was seized.
