Centre Must Stop CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill): NESO

GUWAHATI: Flaying the Centre’s move on the CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill), NESO (North East Students’ Organisation) advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya on Tuesday said, “The spontaneous response of the masses of the Northeast against the divisive policy of the government has proved once again that the Northeast will always stand against all such anti-people moves.” He further said, “It’s high time that the Centre should read the writings on the wall, and stop all anti-people policies. The entire Northeast will oppose the CAB.” The 11-hour bandh against CAB by the NESO was total in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur, and Arunachal, stated a release of NESO. In view of the ongoing Hornbill Festival in Nagaland, activists of the Naga Students Federation took out a protest demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan during the day.

AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) president Dipanko Kumar Nath and general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, “Today’s total bandh across six States of the region including Assam proves that the people of Northeast are against CAB in any form. The Centre will face the ire of the masses in more vigorous form if the Bill is tabled in the Rajya Sabha.”
