Centre paves way for delimitation in 4 North-eastern States

GUWAHATI: Paving way for the delimitation exercise in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland, the Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday withdrew the 2008 notification that had deferred the exercise in these four States.

Therefore, the stage has been set for redrawing of the constituencies across these States.

In an order issued on Friday, the Ministry said that with the improved law-and-order as well as security scenario following reduction of insurgency in these four north-eastern States, the situation there is now conducive for carrying out the deferred delimitation exercise.
