Centre to construct over 1 lakh houses in rural Assam

GUWAHATI, July 12: The Central government under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yoj (Gramin) will construct over 1 lakh dwelling houses in rural Assam during the 2016-17 fincial year. Official sources said that the Union Ministry of Rural Development (Rural Housing Division) has recently informed this to Dispur.  The Rural Development Ministry in pursuance of government’s vision of ‘Housing for All by 2022’ has allocated a fund of Rs 2,13,518 for construction of 1,64,245 houses in the State.  “Of the 1,64,245 houses, 98,547 houses have been allotted for the people belonging to SC/ST communities, 62,562 for minorities and 3,136 houses have been allotted for others,” sources added. They said that the fund sharing pattern for construction of these houses in the State will 90:10 between the Centre and the State.
