Centre to start Delhi-Dimapur flight

NEW DELHI, April 9: The Centre has decided to start a flight service between New Delhi and galand from next week.

Announcing it here on Thursday, DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh said, “A new and daily flight service will start from Delhi to Dimapur in galand via Kolkata and back in the same route from April 15 onwards, in addition to another daily flight from Kolkata to Silchar and back, which was resumed from 20th of last month.”

The Minister was addressing the iugural session of 64th plery meeting of North Eastern Council (NEC).

Admitting that air connectivity has always been an issue for the Northeastern region, Singh said that three hangars had been constructed and made functiol by the Airport Authority of India at Guwahati airport with NEC support, and hoped that Guwahati airport will soon become a regiol hub for air service.

The plery meeting was attended by Governors and Chief Ministers of the NE States, senior officers from the State and Central governments and others.

Elaborating on some of the innovative initiatives taken during the last few months, Dr Singh referred to a unique practice of holding the Ministry of DoNER’s camp office by rotation in each of the eight NE States starting from February this year, which has been desigted as ‘DoNER at Doorstep’ (DAD).

Addressing the officials, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said pilferage is not endemic to the Northeastern region and that corruption should be eradicated for implementation of development plans.
